The English lyrics were penned by Randor Guy (Madabhushi Rangadorai), a prominent legal scholar, film historian, and author who occasionally wrote English songs for Tamil films. The title of the movie, 'Idhayakkani' ('Fruit of the Heart'), was a famous epithet given to MGR by C. N. Annadurai.
