How it began

A weekend hobby, shaped by a deeper listen.

Isaimozhi began as a personal hobby by a music enthusiast working a regular MNC job and spending weekends with Tamil songs. Like many listeners, I could enjoy the melody and emotion of older songs without fully understanding every word. The music reached me first; the language took longer. As I started looking up unfamiliar words and using different tools to understand the nuances, another world opened up. Writers such as Vaali, Vairamuthu, Karthik Netha, and many others made me appreciate how much thought can live inside a few lines: a striking image, a quiet double meaning, an old Tamil word, a change in rhythm, or an emotion that cannot be translated literally. I wanted a common place where that discovery did not have to remain solitary—a Tamil song database that could keep getting better through careful work and the perspectives of other listeners. That idea became Isaimozhi. It is still new, still growing, and always open to thoughtful suggestions.

Careful gathering, transcription, and checks.

Each song is part of an exhaustive process. We gather lyrics from multiple available sources, type and format them with care, and check details such as wording, repeated lines, song credits, and readability. When references disagree or a lyric is unclear, we treat it as a reason to look closer—not a reason to pretend certainty.

This is a continuing process, supported by lyric lovers across the world who value the beauty of language, poetry, and music. New songs are added as they are released, while older entries continue to benefit from review and correction.
