Beyond the translation

Song interpretation

This song expresses deep anguish, betrayal, and heartbreak experienced by a man whose romantic hopes have been shattered. He questions the fickleness of love and womanhood, citing traditional proverbs about hindsight wisdom ('penn bhudhdhi pin bhudhdhi') and lamenting the emotional wounds left behind by the woman he treated like a deity ('Devi thandha ranangal'). As he reminisces about the tender moments, sweet embraces, and lost dreams, he concludes that her innocence was merely deceit disguised as a white flower. Overwhelmed by pain, sorrow, and cynicism, he ultimately turns to alcohol to numb his broken heart.
