A yellow cloud,
A yellow cloud,
Has turned into a young girl,
And walks ahead of me.
O sweet flower!
I saw you,
Into tiny shattered pieces,
I felt my soul shatter.
Won't you stop? Won't you stop?
What is your name?
Because of you...
I forgot what my name is!
Is it a dream? Is it a dream?
Is what I see a dream?
Before my eyes, is it a divine...
...particle of God?
Are you a silicon statue?
A flower with a tiny mouth?
A white river?
Or a moon from an outstation?
Won't you stop? Won't you stop?
What is your name?
Because of you...
I forgot what my name is!
Is she a statue of pure gold?
Is she the beauty of five metals?
Is she the daughter of Lord Brahma?
Is she sunshine in female form?
Strike me with your frontal beauty,
And grant me salvation!
Otherwise, with your long hair at the back,
Hang me to death!
Won't you stop? Won't you stop?
What is your name?
Because of you...
I forgot what my name is!

Oru manjal megam

Kanava kanvaa
Is it a dream? Is it a dream?

Is what I see a dream?
En kanmunnae kadavul
Before my eyes, is it a divine...

Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
Nillayo from the film Bairavaa is a romantic melody expressing the hero's sheer enchantment upon seeing his love interest for the first time. Strikingly overwhelmed by her grace, he compares her appearance to a golden cloud taking human form, a fine silicon sculpture, and a divine particle. His fascination is so profound that he loses his own sense of identity, pleading with her to stop so he can know her name while confessing he has forgotten his own.

Poetic devices

Uses rhetorical questioning to express disbelief and intoxication at her ethereal beauty.
Iyaipu (Rhyming Refrain)
