Are women merely machines in the machine of life?

Is this a cunning trick devised by men?

Searching for a groom agreeable to one's heart,

Is that selfishness on the part of women?

Is that selfishness on the part of young women?

வாழ்க்கையும் ஒருநாள் வசந்தமும் ஒருநாள்

வானவில் போல வாலிபம் தானே

மறையும் முன்னாலே மகிழ்வதனாலே

மாறான செயலென்று சொல்லலாமா

Life lasts but a moment, spring lasts but a moment,

Youth itself is transient like a rainbow.

If one finds joy before it disappears,

Can that be called an improper deed?

மலர் வண்டினம் போல மகிழ்வேனே

நான் வளர்மதி போல் திகழ்வேனே

மலை அசைந்தாலும் நிலை தவறாமல்

மானம் பிரதானமாய் வாழ்வேனே

I shall rejoice like flowers and swarms of bees,

I shall glow like the bright waxing moon.

Even if mountains move, without faltering from my path,

I shall live holding honor as my highest priority.

இருமனம் சேர்ந்து ஒரு மனமானால்

திருமண மேளம் கொட்டணுமா

மறைமுகமாக வளர்ந்திடும் காதல்

மலராமலே மங்கிப் போய் விடுமா

If two hearts unite to become one mind,

Is beating the wedding drums strictly necessary?

Will love that grows in secret,

Fade away into darkness without ever blooming?

ஏமாற்றுவாரும் ஏமாறுவாரும்

இல்லாமல் இல்லை நாட்டினிலே

இதை எண்ணாமல் உலகில் பெண்ணாகப் பிறந்து

ஏங்கித் தவிப்பதோ வீட்டினிலே...

Those who deceive and those who are deceived,

Are certainly present throughout this country.

Without understanding this, being born as a woman in this world,

Should one languish and suffer inside the home?
