Oh Lord Shiva, Lord of the Golden Hall!

Will He believe what His devotees say?

As time passes, times have completely changed,

Will anyone pray to Him wholeheartedly now?

பொறந்த வீட்டிலும் புகுந்த வீட்டிலும்

பொறுமையாய் இருப்பவ சம்சாரி

பதி பெருமை புரிஞ்சவ சம்சாரி

ஊரு சிரிக்கவே உலகம் சிரிக்கவே

பேரைக் கெடுப்பவ பெருச்சாளி

டகல் பேச்சை அளப்பவ பெருச்சாளி

In her birth house as well as her marital house,

She who remains patient is a good homemaker.

She who understands her husband's honor is a good homemaker.

Making the town laugh, making the world laugh,

She who ruins the family name is like a bandicoot.

She who speaks deceitful words is like a bandicoot.

கழுத்துப் போனாலும் கடமை தவறாமல்

கற்பை காப்பவள் சம்சாரி

நம் கண்ணகி போன்றவள் சம்சாரி

அழுத்தம் திருத்தமா இதரப் பெண்களை

ஆட்டி வைப்பவ பெருச்சாளி

பல்லைக் காட்டி சிரிப்பவ பெருச்சாளி

Even under extreme hardship, without failing her duty,

She who protects her virtue is a good homemaker.

She who is like our Kannagi is a true homemaker.

Manipulating other women with clever cunning,

She who sways everyone around is like a bandicoot.

She who grins falsely showing her teeth is like a bandicoot.

மாமியின் சொல்லை தலைமேல் கொண்டு

மதித்து நடப்பவ மருமகளாம்

தினம் துதித்து நடப்பவ மருமகளாம்

மானம் மரியாதை ஏதும் இல்லாமல்

மாமியை எதிர்ப்பவ மடமகளாம்

நிலை மாறி நடப்பவ மடமகளாம்...

Taking her mother-in-law's words upon her head,

She who acts with respect is a good daughter-in-law.

She who acts with daily reverence is a good daughter-in-law.

Without any sense of honor or respect,

She who opposes her mother-in-law is a foolish girl.
