இவன் களத்து மேட்டில் காத்த போல திரிஞ்ச பையன்

இவன் புழுதி காட்டில் புத்தர் போல வளர்ந்த பையன்

ஊரு முழுக்க தொனதொனக்கும் இவன் அலப்பரையே

ஆனா இவன் திமிர மூடி வைக்க ஏது பப்பரயே

He is a boy who roamed like the wind over the threshing grounds.

He is a boy who grew like a serene Buddha amidst dusty fields.

His loud chatter and swagger echo throughout the entire town.

Yet there is no container large enough to enclose his immense pride.

நெரிஞ்சு முள்ளு ஒடம்ப பூரா முள்ளிருக்கும்

இவன் நெஞ்சாங்கூட்டில் எப்போதும் தெம்பிருக்கும்

இவன போல ஊருக்குள்ள யாரும் இல்லையே

இவன் கூட வரும் நிழலு கூடு கோழை இல்லையே

Just as a puncture-vine is covered in thorns all over,

His chest and heart are forever filled with resolute courage.

There is nobody in this town quite like him.

Even the shadow that walks beside him is no coward.

கண்ணீர் விட்டு பாசம் செல்லி பழக்கம் இல்லையே

இவன் பாசத்துல பாறை கூட கரையும் புள்ள

இவன் வம்பு கதை ஊரு வாயில் ஓஞ்சது இல்லையே

இவன் ரகலையதான் எண்ணி சொல்ல நம்பரும் பத்தலயே....
