Is this a guava fruit that no parrot has come to peck?
Is it a lie that she stands all by herself?
Is this a guava fruit that no parrot has come to peck?
Is it a lie that she stands all by herself?
For her youthfulness and her current state,
He must come as a companion day and night, sir.

Hoisting victorious flags in all eight directions,
Shedding the crowns of the gods,
I watched him conquer heaven.
Hiranyakashipu hoisting flags in all eight directions,
Shedding the crowns of the gods,
I watched him conquer heaven.
My body broke into a sweat.
To cling shoulder to shoulder with him,
I have dreamed ever since I came of age.
I have dreamed ever since I came of age.
My body lost weight, my body lost weight.
After the sun departed and after the moon arrived,
My body feels hot.
My body feels very hot.
Infatuation for him in this tender, young heart,
A new surge of passion entered my mind.
A surge of passion entered my mind.
What will happen? What will happen?

Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
This sensual and expressive song from Bhakta Prahlada (1967) depicts Queen Kayadu expressing her deep romantic yearning for her powerful husband, the demon king Hiranyakashipu. Through lush imagery, she compares herself to an untouched guava fruit waiting for her lover. Reminiscing about his mighty conquest of heaven and defeat of the gods, she describes how her admiration turned into intense physical longing and romantic obsession ever since she reached womanhood.
