The dream I dreamt has come true today
The treasure of my love has come into my hands
The dream I dreamt has come true today
My cherished principles sing a song of victory
The principles I held onto sing a song of victory
Dances in boundless joy
My heart dances in boundless joy
The dream I dreamt has come true today
Do not dance, O peacock
Do not seek ways to mesmerize my beloved
You do not dance, O peacock
If my lover witnesses your dance
If my lover witnesses your dance
He might even come to despise my dance, wouldn't he?
You do not dance, O peacock
O singing cuckoo, do not sing
Do not compete with my song
O singing cuckoo, do not sing
My beloved whom I sought
If he listens to your song
He might come to despise this maiden's song, wouldn't he?
O singing cuckoo, do not sing
Here, take this, I have
Given you a kiss
You do not need to stay here
O spotted deer
Here, take this, I have given you a kiss
With overflowing beauty
If he beholds your timid, enchanting eyes
With overflowing beauty
If he beholds your timid, enchanting eyes
Will he ever compare it to the beauty of my spear-like eyes?
Will he ever compare it to the beauty of my spear-like eyes?
Here, take this, I have given you a kiss

Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
This ecstatic song captures the pure joy of the heroine as her long-cherished dream of attaining her lover finally comes true. Overwhelmed with happiness, she playfully addresses the elements of nature around her—a dancing peacock, a singing cuckoo, and a timid spotted deer. She playfully asks the peacock not to dance and the cuckoo not to sing, teasingly worrying that if her lover sees their perfection, he might lose interest in her own song and dance. Finally, she shooes away the spotted deer with a kiss, jokingly asking if its timid gaze could ever match the beauty of her spear-like eyes.
