Song interpretation

This heartbreaking song from the web series Ayali portrays the deep trauma and grief experienced by a young girl upon attaining puberty in a regressive, patriarchal village context. Coming of age instantly strips away her childhood, freedom, and dreams of education, forcing her into confinement and oppressive traditions. The lyrics lament how her joyful life is reduced to suffering, comparing traditional ornaments to shackles.
