கோயிலின் மணித் தேரோ

மானோ பொன்மணி

நகை இல்லா சிலைதானோ

கனவினில் வந்தது கவிதைகள் தந்தது

ஆனந்த பூவில் வந்த தேனோ.....

Is he Cupid (Manmathan)?

Or the ornate temple chariot?

Is she a deer, or a precious gem?

Or an unadorned statue?

She came in my dreams and gave me poetry,

Is it honey from the flower of joy?

தாழம் பூப்போல் செவியிலே

தவழ்ந்து ஆடும் வகையிலே

வானில் மின்னும் வெள்ளி மீன்போல்

வைரத்தோடு பதிக்கிறேன்

பாவை வண்ண கோவை

இதழ் பவளம் மெல்ல திறக்குமோ

Like a screwpine flower near the ear,

Swaying and floating gracefully,

Like a silver star shining in the sky,

I set it with diamonds.

With lips red like the scarlet gourd,

Will her coral lips gently open?

நீல மேக குழலிலே

பூவைச் சூடும் பொழுதிலே

வெள்ளை பிறைப் போல் நெற்றி மீது

வண்ண திலகம் இடுகிறேன்

பார்வை இசை கோர்வை

புது பாடல் ஒன்று படிக்குமோ

In her hair like dark blue clouds,

When adornment of flowers takes place,

On her forehead like a white crescent moon,

I place a colorful bindi.

Her glance is a melody composed,

Will it sing a new song?
