This devotional narrative describes the plight of the celestial Devas under the tyrannical reign of the demon Surapadman. Helpless and panicking like wild beasts escaping a blazing forest fire, the Devas sought refuge from the divine powers. Lord Indra himself took cover in Sirkazhi transformed into bamboo.
