Golden hue, red coral,
Golden hue, red coral,
Oh flowering vine draped on a soft form!
The feminine shape that fills my heart,
The feminine shape that fills my heart,
Makes me yearn for you...
Makes me yearn for you...
A face like the overflowing radiant moon,
A face like the overflowing radiant moon,
Oh my virtuous, handsome prince...
Ever since my heart merged with yours,
Ever since my heart merged with yours,
I find no sleep in my eyes,
I find no sleep in my eyes,
When I do not see you, my heart
Dreams and languishes,
When I do not see you, my heart
Dreams and languishes,
Yet when I see you, a wave of shyness
Comes and envelopes me,
Yet when I see you, a wave of shyness
Comes and envelopes me,
ஆ.......ஆ.....ஆ......
Aa....aa....aa....aah....
Oh precious eye, my heavenly nectar,
Oh precious eye, my heavenly nectar,
Is this not the very nature of womanhood?
Is this not the very nature of womanhood?
Golden hue, red coral,
Oh flowering vine draped on a soft form!
The feminine shape that fills my heart,
The feminine shape that fills my heart,
Makes me yearn for you...
Makes me yearn for you...
ஆ.......ஆ.....ஆ......

Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
Thanga Niram Sempavazham from the 1959 film Arumai Magal Abirami is a classic romantic duet expressing romantic admiration and longing between two lovers. The male protagonist praises his beloved's radiant skin and graceful form, likening her to coral and a flowering creeper, and confesses how her image consumes his soul with longing. The female protagonist responds by comparing her lover to the glowing moon, admitting that since falling in love, she spends sleepless nights dreaming of him, yet feels delightfully overwhelmed by bashfulness whenever they meet.
