Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
This song is a tender, affectionate lullaby-style plea addressed to young Lord Krishna. The singer calls out to Krishna, begging him not to hide or stray far away even for a second. The lyrics paint a serene evening scene where cows return to their sheds with their young calves, and birds sing their final songs before going to sleep, marking the end of the day.

Poetic devices
Edhugai (Second Letter Rhyme)
“Karavai thozhuvam thaedi / Paravai inangal yaavum”
The second consonant 'ra' matches across lines 9 and 13 ('Karavai' and 'Paravai').
Metaphor (Uruvagam)
“Paal vadiyum vadhanam”
'Paal vadiyum vadhanam' uses milk to metaphorically signify pure innocence on young Krishna's face.
Imagery (Visual & Auditory)
“Karavai thozhuvam thaedi... Kulungum sadhangaiyodu”
Evokes vivid pastoral scenes of cattle returning home at twilight, birds settling down, and the sound of jingling anklets ('kulungum sadhangai').
