Song interpretation
Written prophetically by Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathiyar decades before India actually attained independence, 'Aaduvomae Pallupaaduvomae' is an exuberant song celebrating liberty, equality, and human dignity. Bharathiyar envisions a free India where social caste and class distinctions disappear, labor and agriculture are deeply revered, and people refuse to serve oppressive feudal or foreign masters, submitting only to the Divine.

The film was released shortly before Indian Independence and played a massive role in galvanizing patriotic spirit across Tamil Nadu. Producer A. V. Meiyappan initially bought exclusive film rights for Bharathiyar's songs, but later helped facilitate making them public domain so the whole nation could freely use the poet's works.
