| Poraa poraa oru pottu vacha | She goes, she goes, wearing a bindi on her forehead, |
| Ven puraa | A white dove, |
| Kaatha paranthu poraa | Flying away like the wind, she goes. |
| Poraa poraa oru poo mudicha | She goes, she goes, adorned with flowers in her hair, |
| Vennilaa | A bright white moon, |
| Usura maranthu poraa | Forgetting her very life, she goes. |
| Male | |
| Yaaru yaaru vanthu aarudhal solla | Who will come to offer words of comfort? |
| Ada yaaru sonna kuda theruthal illa | Oh, even if anyone speaks, there is no solace. |
| En suma thaangha naadhi illa | There is no refuge to bear my heavy burden. |
| Chorus | |
| Ahaaaa….aaaa (2) | Ahaaaa....aaaa (2) |

| Manukku poga thaan | Only to return to the earth, |
| Ellarum poranthom | We all were born, |

| Thoosuthaan pattalumae | Even if a speck of dust touched her, |
| Thudichu pogum raasathikku | For the beloved princess who would quiver in distress, |
| Neruppu ootum paaviyum naanthaan | I am the sinner who consigned her to the fire. |
| Aaviyum thudichi ponnen | My soul quivered in grief, |
| Nenjum vedichu ponnen | And my heart shattered into pieces. |

போறா போறா
ஒரு பொட்டு வச்ச வென்
புறா காத்தா பறந்து போறா
போறா போறா ஒரு பூ முடிச்ச
வெண்ணிலா உசுர மறந்து போறா
She goes, she goes, wearing a bindi on her forehead,
A white dove,
Flying away like the wind, she goes.
She goes, she goes, adorned with flowers in her hair,
A bright white moon,
Forgetting her very life, she goes.
யாரு யாரு வந்து
ஆறுதல் சொல்ல அட யாரு
சொன்ன கூட தேறுதல் இல்ல
என் சுமை தாங்க நாதி இல்ல
Who will come to offer words of comfort?
Oh, even if anyone speaks, there is no solace.
There is no refuge to bear my heavy burden.
ஆஹா ஆஆ (2)
Ahaaaa....aaaa (2)
Only to return to the earth,
We all were born,
Even so, isn't there any justice in that?
Even if a speck of dust touched her,
For the beloved princess who would quiver in distress,
I am the sinner who consigned her to the fire.
My soul quivered in grief,
And my heart shattered into pieces.

Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
This mournful track from Maanasthan expresses the profound agony and guilt of a man mourning the tragic death of his beloved partner. He envisions her as a delicate white dove and a luminous moon departing this world. The protagonist laments that someone so gentle—who could not endure even a speck of dust—has met a fiery end, blaming his own tragic fate for this outcome. He reflects on human mortality while questioning the cruelty and injustice of her premature death, leaving him heartbroken and inconsolable.
