Beyond the translation

Song interpretation

This emotional devotional song portrays a mother pleading desperately to Lord Murugan to save her dying child. She questions the deity with raw grief, reminding Him of all her sincere offerings, rituals, diamond crown donations, and carrying of Kaavadi. She questions the purpose of His twelve arms and six faces if He remains indifferent to her agony. Offering her own life in exchange for her infant's survival, she washes His feet with her tears and begs for His boundless divine mercy to restore her child's life.
