Hearing of Valli's exquisite beauty
as told by Narada,
Murugan disguised himself as a hunter.
Pretending to search for a deer,
towards the place where this girl stayed,
he arrived.
"Which deer? What deer did you come looking for?"
when Valli asked,
"A deer that does not graze, a deer without spots,
a deer that does not graze!
With a graceful bounding walk,
and a lovely braided plait,

The deer he described
was this young girl herself;
realizing this, Valli
grew angry and lashed out:

At once, Murugan who was dressed as a hunter
transformed into a Vengai tree, following sweet Valli:

That cruel God of Love,
showering his flower arrows,

Was Valli like a girl

She said 'Sorry' and turned him down!
Young Murugan immediately
turned into an old man.
Eating the millet flour offered by Valli,
that old grandpa

Once again, when Murugan
summoned the elephant,
it lifted Valli
with its trunk and tossed her,
as she cried, 'Muruga! Muruga! Muruga!'
screaming in terror.
Murugan caught Valli in his arms,
and held her close.
Just as she wished in her heart,
Valli married Murugan.
To the Lord of Valli,
