Oh mother and father, I was born only to get beaten up.
In all honesty, I have grown thin by receiving kicks.
Without any wisdom, I wandered around aimlessly.
Oh mother, oh father, my dear mother, oh father!
My dear mother, oh father...
My dear mother, oh father...
Even though I studied in school, I forgot the lessons.
Because I forgot the lessons, I forgot the school itself.
Unable to find a job, I joined the police force.
Unable to catch a criminal, I caught hold of khaki uniform/another cop.
He beat me up... oh mother, oh mother... ah!
Oh mother and father, I was born only to get beaten up.
In all honesty, I have grown thin by receiving kicks.
I went buying flowers, sir... for my wife.
I went buying flowers, sir... for my wife.
Along with mouth-watering Thirunelveli halwa,
I went buying flowers, sir...
Thinking that my wife was inside,
I opened the door, went in, and hugged her.
Thinking I was her husband, she embraced me back.
Seeing that, her real husband beat me with a stick.
Oh mother and father, I was born only to get beaten up.
In all honesty, I have grown thin by receiving kicks.
Without any wisdom, I wandered around aimlessly.

Beyond the translation
Song interpretation
This humorous song depicts a hapless protagonist lamenting his misadventures and constant misfortune. He humorously complains that he was born solely to be beaten up. He narrates his failures in school, his desperation in joining the police force, getting beaten up by fellow officers, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity where he mistakenly enters the wrong house, hugs another man's wife thinking she is his own, and gets soundly thrashed by the real husband. Through self-deprecating humor and lighthearted lyricism by Gangai Amaran, the track serves as a comical narration of comedic mishaps.
